Mike Hickman’s efforts and those of Hickman Homes have led to the single highest recognition available to a builder when Mike was named POLK COUNTY’S “BUILDER OF THE YEAR” in an unprecedented three separate years.

Mike Hickman cares passionately about the industry he’s chosen to be part of and the community he lives in. He is past President for the Florida Home Builder's Association (FHBA), representing over 18,000 member companies throughout Florida.  He has been recognized for his work on critical issues affecting the state, including Chairman of the FHBA Radon Task Force, the FHBA Septic Tank Task Force and the FHBA Water Policy Task Force.  He is a past President of the Polk County Builder's Association (PCBA) and a Life Board member.  He currently serves on the PCBA Political Action Committee  and is on the Board of Trustees for the FHBA Foundation and PCBA Foundation.

Mike has been active with the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, serving on the "Voice of the People" Political Action Committee.  He is a member of Lakeland Christina Rotary and Rotary International.  He served on the Valley View Elementary School Quality Improvement Council and worked with the "School to Work" program in Polk County. He is a strong supporter of the South Lakeland Babe Ruth League and Lakeland Highlands Youth Soccer.  He has twice been the Builder of Record for Habitat for Humanity.
